#FOWC: Danger

She was rigid with fear, tears streaming down her face. She couldn’t understand how someone she loved so much could do something so awful to her. Trapped in a hard leather chair, an overhead light half blinded her and she tried to turn her head away but strong hands gripped her, one either side at her temples.

“Just try to relax now, it will all be over soon”

The man who’d seemed so kind had donned a mask, it did not hide his smile. His movements were slow and deliberate and his touch almost gentle as he pushed on her shoulder, forcing her back further into the unyielding chair. She could feel cold sweat running, in a single rivulet, down the side of her face and her heart hammered in her chest.

She could hear the sound of metal on metal but couldn’t see the source of the noise; her terror was mounting steadily. It was then that the man in the mask raised his hand, he was holding something that glinted in the harsh light.

“Hold still my dear, we don’t want any mishaps when we’ve only just started”

She could see the light of humour in his eyes…or was it madness? She squeezed her own eyes tightly shut and waited for the inevitable pain.

“There we are, all done, just a clean and a polish today Sarah”

The dentist looked pityingly at her Mother, he could see how hard it had been for her to force her young daughter into that chair and keep her still while he worked. In truth she did feel bad but she knew that it was for her daughter’s own good.

“You see silly, you were never in any danger

This was in response to another of Fandango’s fabulous one word prompts. I seem to have become slightly addicted and they definitely bring out my darker side ;O)

Have a great day all

Ha! I was expecting another “Criminal Minds”-like story, but was pleased it was only a trip to the dentist!
